The TEF IRN (Test d'Évaluation de Français – Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité – French Assessment Test – Integration, Residence and Nationality) is published by Le Français des Affaires (CCI Paris Île-de-France) and has been accepted by the French government since 2026 for naturalization (level B2 required), the 10-year resident card (B1), and residence permits/CIR (A2). It is an alternative to the TCF IRN: same regulatory recognition, different publisher, different format. It consists of 4 sections, takes 1 hour 30 minutes in total, and scores range from 0 to 499 per section. 2026 THRESHOLDS — DON'T MISS OUT
Since January 1, 2026 (Law No. 2024-42), the required levels have increased: naturalization B2 (instead of B1), resident card B1 (instead of A2), CIR/CSP A2. Many candidates are still preparing for the old level and failing. The app highlights the actual level required for your application.
