About this app

Waitzy is an app designed to help you break free from impulsive spending habits and direct your purchasing towards more mindful and planned decisions. Rather than being just a spending management tool, it serves as a companion that prompts you to reconsider your buying choices through 'waiting'.
Users can register items they want to buy in the app and enter 'Resist Mode', postponing their purchase for a set period of time. This mode can be set to aim for three delays, with waiting intervals adjustable from a minimum of 7 hours to a maximum of 24 hours. Throughout this process, the app periodically sends reminders asking, "Do you really need this item?" to help users reassess their decisions.
During the waiting period, users can make one of four choices:
- Selecting "I don't need this" deletes the item and records a success in resisting.
- Choosing "I'm still thinking" keeps the item in a pending state.
- Pressing "I want to buy it" marks the purchase as complete and prompts the user to enter a reason for buying.
- Clicking "I won’t buy it now" records a successful deferral and accumulates restraint mileage.
One of the app's standout features is its ability to analyze and visualize the reasons behind failed purchase decisions. Users can log the reasons they ultimately bought items (e.g., limited-time discounts, advertising impact, emotional stress, etc.) and analyze this data to recognize recurring consumption patterns.
Furthermore, the "Impulse Restraint Hall of Fame" feature lists the most expensive items resisted in order, adding an element of fun in reflecting on one's self-restraint. Users can also visually track their success and failure rates, the amount saved, and total spent on impulse purchases, providing a clear overview of their spending habits.
Waitzy keeps all data stored locally on the device, ensuring privacy and minimizing unnecessary ad exposure that could distract users. It's particularly useful for individuals who frequently experience impulse temptations, regret their spending, wish to build self-control, or want to manage their expenses systematically. With Waitzy, small daily waits can accumulate into significant savings.
