impossible to get to the birds'sounds as too many adverts in the way which seems impossible to close on time so the birds have 'shut up" when the app is 'ready' to listen. Waste of time and energy this app. I dislike it enormously.

bird stopped singing and flew away while ads were loading, and identified a random bird with a call nothing like what was recorded a second time

Terrible. you have to go through so many ads to get to the 'listener' (a lot of which, confusingly (or opportunistically) are for bird identifier apps), then it gets it wrong. I'm in North America and it suggested an Asian cuckoo!
