About this app

Know the sound level around you, and how long you can stay safely.

This app will tell you the approximate sound level pressure you are currently exposed to, and it will tell you how long you can stay at that level without risk of hearing loss.

You can find inside more information about the decibel scale, the noise dose formula, attenuation standards, and more.

This app was developed as a free companion for EarDial HiFi Earplugs - Invisible High Fidelity Hearing Protection, but it is useful even if you are not an owner of EarDial earplugs.

You can compare the results if you are wearing EarDial earplugs or not. When you activate the EarDial switch, it will adjust the calculations based on the EarDial attenuation levels.

You will be able to calibrate the app to your specific device if necessary. More information how to do that inside.

very basic. no monitoring functions, only one-time recording of at-the-moment noise level. only useful if the noise source is constantly there. not useful if noise is fluctuating or on and off. no audio recording. no screen shot. no mic setting. no ads. yes calibration.

For the past couple months it hasn't been working properly. No matter how loud my environment is, the app just always says its cool to stay there for 8+ hrs. Even in a helicopter which is not right whatsoever. Would love to see it working again. I'm on a Pixel 2.

Please install the new version and try again. It was probably an issue with your specific device. It is working fine.

The sound level seems to be capped on my device at 78 dB(A). I accept that this is probably an issue with my phone hardware, but it renders the app kind of pointless, although the ear plugs are certainly helpful in loud environments.

Hi Alan, yes the app functionality is limited by the device hardware. We show a warning when we are reaching the limits of your microphone so you know that you might be at a higher level. At least now you know that your device is not suitable to measure loud environments. I'm glad that you are enjoying the earplugs though!
