BlueBubbles is an open-source and cross-platform ecosystem of apps aimed to bring iMessage to Android, Windows, Linux, and Web! With BlueBubbles, you'll be able to send messages, media, and much more to your friends and family.

You can optionally enable BlueBubbles to run as a foreground service in order to receive notifications directly from the server, rather than through Firebase.

Wow, Kudos to the developers. This app might be a bit tech savvy to setup but man I am so thankful to the devs behind who put in all the effort and their time to make this work. I want to use Android but my sim is tied to the iPhone as a main phone so I am just very thankful that this solution exists. Tip: Use AI chat that you use to debug the setup. For example for me the error messages weren't obvious but found I needed to set up a billing account for Firebase as Google requires now.

So far, so good! First of all, the app looks and feels like iMessage, and the private API features really add to that as well. Second, the setup process was somewhat confusing, especially with the Google Notifications, since I did run into a few errors. However, once set up, it has been working flawlessly. I set up the server on a Mac Mini I got from Facebook Marketplace, and I just leave it running, and I don't have to ever touch it.

What a great way to have the best of both worlds! Hats off to the devs for doing what a billion dollar (depending on the week) company refuses to do. This app is reliable, robust, and just works. The only issues I've experienced in the last few weeks of heavy daily use have been related to my Mac server machine, and not the BlueBubbles stack. Highly recommend for anybody who still wants to be a "blue bubble" instead of green.
