Bog Slate Shades is a quiet logic puzzle set on a peat moor. Chalk walls cut every board into irregular regions, and your job is to shade cells until two simple rules hold everywhere at once.

Every region ends up with exactly two shaded cells. Never one, never three.

Every shaded cell touches exactly one other shaded cell, side by side or top to bottom, so all shading forms clean dominoes. A shade with no partner is wrong, and so is a shade with two.

The twist is that a domino is free to lie half in one region and half in the next. The two shaded cells belonging to a region are very often not partners with each other at all, and learning to read that is what turns a slow board into a fast one.

Boards are cut fresh on your device, never downloaded. Dominoes are scattered so that none of them touch, irregular regions grow around them, and a solver checks the board before it ever reaches you, so there is always a way through by pure reasoning.

WHAT IS INSIDE

- Three board sizes: a six by six turf patch, an eight by eight wide moor and a ten by ten deep bog.
- Tap once to shade a cell, again to leave a pale lichen dot meaning it stays clear, again to wipe it.
- Live feedback: a region tints green the moment it holds its two shaded cells and flashes red if a third slips in, and any shade with the wrong number of partners pulses with a red outline.
- Undo through four hundred taps, a hint that fills in one cell from the answer, and a clear button that wipes the board without cutting a new one.
- A timer and a record book: boards started, boards settled, best time for each size, hints taken, and your longest run of hint free solves.
- Twelve moorland honours to earn, from your first shade to a hundred boards cut.
- An illustrated explainer with drawn diagrams of a legal crossing and of an illegal run of three.

QUIET BY DESIGN

No sound at all. Not a single tone, click or piece of music, so the app is safe to play in a waiting room, on a night train or beside someone sleeping. Feedback is visual, with an optional short haptic tick you can switch off.

Completely offline. No internet permission, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no accounts and no third party services. Your record book lives on your device and goes nowhere.

The whole board is drawn as flat matte colour: wet peat, quarried slate and pale lichen green. No flashing, no countdown pushing you along, no scores to compare with strangers. Just a board, two rules and as long as you want to take.
