About this app

Brick Search has had a huge update, with new features and a new look – as well as the same great minifigure scanner.

Building on the introduction of the revolutionary minifigure box scanner in 2024, Brick Search is now the place to go for everything a fan of brick-built sets needs.

Now you can use Brick Search to:

- Keep track of when sets retire so you don’t miss out on adding them to your collection

- Follow a curated list of key events from the world of brick-based set collecting and building

- Get expert opinion on the latest set releases

- Find out more about the stories behind the sets and themes with in-depth articles, short-form video content and high-quality images

And the innovative minifigure scanner is still there, updated for the May 1, 2025 release of F1 Collectible Race Cars. Use the Brick Search minifigure scanner to quickly see what car is inside the blind box packaging by scanning the code on the base. Multiple codes can be scanned at once and the scanner works with or without an internet connection.

Brick Search Plus members get unlimited use of the scanner, a link to the Brick Search Plus Discord server and the Brick Search Plus newsletter and access to Brick Search’s archive of more than 10,000 sets.

Brick Search users can build their collection and wishlist in-app, making it easy to track the sets you have and the sets you want. Brick Search also brings selected, trusted retailers to you on the page for every set on sale, so you can shop smarter for the sets you want.

A monthly Brick Search Plus membership is £2.49 / $3.49 and an annual membership is £19.99 / $29.99.

Extremely disappointed by the bait-and-switch. If the scanner requires a server API then rate limit it. If you need a revenue stream beyond affiliate links then use ads. One time cost would have been better (though likely still negatively received). Subscriptions are the absolute worst. Worse than requiring tipping for picking up takeout. Scanning was finicky while it lasted but usually eventually worked. May have considered tracking inventory but no longer.

It used to be great; super helpful. It's unusable now unless you pay $24.99 for a year or a monthly charge. It says you can get 12 scans per day for free, but even that isn't working. Every time I try to scan something it's just forcing a pop up to pay for a membership. I don't buy LEGO Minifigures often enough to justify paying for a subscription. I'd rather just leave my purchase to chance than pay for this wonky app that only even registers maybe half of the QR codes I try to scan.

When it worked it worked fine, but it would often take a long time to identify CMF from the codes on the box or I'd have to restart the app multiple times before it would scan again. But now they want to charge a subscription fee for what was previously a free app? Easily the worst decision. I'd rather have ads on the app or pay a one time fee. regardless I'll be looking for alternatives, I suggest anyone else do the same.
