About this app

Budgetfold is a zero-based, envelope-style budget you keep by hand. Give every dollar a job at the start of the month, enter what you spend, and watch each envelope. No bank logins, no bank passwords, no negotiation fees. Your data exports whenever you say so.

GIVE EVERY DOLLAR A JOB
• Ready to assign shows what is still unassigned this month.
• Overspending in one category comes out of next month's Ready to assign, the way the envelope method works.
• Unspent money rolls forward in its category, so "car repairs" builds up until you need it.
• Goals: a monthly amount, a target, or a target by date. Fund my goals fills them in one tap; Copy last month repeats a plan you liked.

ACCOUNTS AND A REAL REGISTER
• Checking, savings, cash, credit card, loan and off-budget accounts.
• Transactions with splits, transfers, memos, payees that remember their category.
• Cleared and reconciled states, with statement reconciliation and an adjustment when the numbers differ.

SUBSCRIPTION TRACKER
• Every recurring charge with its renewal date, yearly cost, trial end date and a log of every price change.
• Find recurring charges scans your imported history and proposes them.
• See what is due in the next 14 days, the total per month and per year, and keep the cancel link for the day you decide.

BRING YOUR HISTORY
• YNAB: Register.csv and Plan.csv, including every month's assigned amounts.
• Mint's old transactions.csv, Monarch's CSV, and any bank CSV, OFX, QFX or QIF file.
• Accounts and categories are created to match. Re-importing never duplicates.
• Goal settings do not import from any of these apps because their exports do not include them; set them again in a few minutes.

NO BANK CONNECTION, ON PURPOSE
Budgetfold never asks for a bank login. You enter transactions as you go or import a statement file when you want to. Nothing about your bank credentials is stored anywhere.

EXPORT EVERYTHING
Download your whole budget at any time as CSV files in the same shape you imported, plus JSON.

SHARED, IN ANY CURRENCY
Pick your currency once. Invite your household with a code; up to six people on one budget with Plus.

AI ASSISTS
AI can categorise an import and review your month in plain words. Each use counts as an assist against a monthly allowance, not a separate subscription.
