DuoSpeak turns one phone into a conversation between two people who don't share a
language — and into a recorder that writes up your meetings.
Everything core runs on your device. No account, no ads, no analytics, and no
servers of ours in the middle.
TWO-PERSON INTERPRETER
Put the phone flat on the table between you. The screen splits into two panels, and
the far one is rotated 180° so it reads the right way up from the other side. Tap
the mic, say a sentence, and DuoSpeak transcribes it, translates it, and speaks it
aloud in the other language.
• Works offline — speech recognition, translation and speech output all run on the device
• 74 languages in the picker, 59 of them with downloadable offline translation
• Auto-listen passes the mic to the other person after each turn, for a natural back-and-forth
• Both-upright mode for when you sit side by side instead of face to face
• Type instead of speaking when it is too loud to talk
• Every conversation is saved on the device and is searchable
MEETING TRANSCRIBE
A separate mode for when you need a record rather than a translation. Press Record
and DuoSpeak keeps going for as long as you need — an hour or more — while you use
other apps or with the screen off.
• Continuous recording that survives backgrounding, screen-off and multitasking
• A transcript that fills in as the meeting runs, in the language actually spoken
• Timestamped lines you can correct, and speaker labels you assign yourself
• Play the recording back inside the app
• Export the transcript as text, or the recording as audio, to a filename and place you choose
• Minutes of Meeting drafted from the transcript — summary, decisions, action items
• Recordings are deleted automatically after a retention period you set, or kept
indefinitely if you prefer
Recording is entirely local. Transcribing sends audio to a cloud provider, so it
stays switched off until you turn it on and add your own API key.
PRIVACY BY DEFAULT
• Nothing is uploaded unless you opt in, and the two opt-ins are separate — turning
on one does not turn on the other
• Conversations, recordings and transcripts stay in app-private storage on your device
• API keys are encrypted at rest, never logged, never displayed, and excluded from backups
• Optional app lock
• An API Usage screen showing every cloud call the app has made and what it cost

OPTIONAL ONLINE FEATURES — YOUR KEY, YOUR BILL
DuoSpeak has no subscription and runs no server of its own. For higher-accuracy
online translation, meeting transcription or drafted minutes, you add your own
provider key (Google Cloud, OpenAI or OpenRouter) and that provider bills you
directly. Leave them off and the app still works offline, indefinitely.
BEFORE YOU RECORD
Recording other people is regulated differently from place to place, and many
jurisdictions require the consent of everyone present. Obtaining it is your
responsibility.

Translations and transcripts are produced by automated models. Quality varies with
accent, background noise and subject matter, and they do get things wrong. DuoSpeak
is built for everyday conversation and for your own notes. It is not a certified
interpreting service, and it must not be relied on for medical, legal, official or
safety-critical communication — use a qualified human interpreter for those.
