### Why CGuard uses Android VpnService
CGuard uses Android's `VpnService` API to provide its optional WireGuard VPN feature. When you choose a CGuard server and approve Android's VPN permission prompt, the app creates an encrypted WireGuard tunnel and routes device network traffic through that selected CGuard server. This helps protect network traffic when using untrusted or high-risk WiFi networks.
You control when the VPN is connected and can disconnect it from the CGuard VPN screen. After a WiFi security scan identifies a high-risk network, CGuard may recommend or automatically start the VPN according to the app's risk protection flow. Android displays the active VPN indicator while the tunnel is running. The VPN feature requires an eligible CGuard plan and an available server.
The VPN is not required to use the WiFi scanner or the other security tools.
You must explicitly approve Android's system VPN permission before CGuard can start a VPN connection.
By installing CGuard, you agree to the applicable terms and privacy policy.
