The app is good and my 6 year old picked up a few moves faster than what I would have taught him. The pass and play part is mostly good. For the downsides, I cannot find or add any of my kid's friends online so he doesn't get to play with them unless they visit. Also, puzzles without a clear objective is not what a kid is expected to solve (and some of the puzzle solutions are not even the best move). The puzzles vary between one/two step moves and something that needs six steps.

Thank you for this feedback. Kids can challenge their friends to Slow Chess games by tapping on their avatar on the app, then tapping on one of their friends' avatars. We're working to add Live Chess friendly challenges on the app! We'll also review Puzzle functionality, since Puzzle solutions with equivalent moves can be confusing.

teaches you the very basics with 1 or 2 lessons. then, asks for a hefty subscription fee to continue further. no thanks, I'll buy a book instead that will last forever instead of something that I have to keep paying for indefinitely.

Thank you for this feedback. With amazing training tools on ChessKid like Videos, Lessons and Puzzles, we promise it's worth the cost of Gold membership! If you're interested, you can find out more by tapping on the Membership option right in the app. However, you can choose a free account, and playing chess will always be free on ChessKid!

I can't believe you put in threefold repetition rule in a kids learning app without the possibility to uncheck it, when what you had to do is to offer the possibility to go back after checkmate with a bot. It's about learning and trying. This is not a learning app for kids, this is just another Chess app with a different skin, and for the children who don't speak English it's almost worthless as such, better to learn how to play on other free platforms with more customizable computer opponents.

Thank you for this feedback. We understand the importance of being able to undo moves in games vs. Bots, even when the game has ended in checkmate, stalemate, or draws by repetition. We'll look into implementing this functionality on the app, as well as potential settings to avoid auto-claiming draws by repetition. Thanks again for this input!
