About this app

CitiAir is a demo mobile app that helps you understand the air you breathe and the nature around you for the cities participating in the UPSURGE project.
You can see local air quality at a glance, explore a map of key locations and nature-based projects, get simple recommendations on how to adapt your activities, and report environmental issues directly to the city.

CitiAir combines data from local sensors and air quality forecasts to provide easy-to-read indicators using colour scales, together with short-term forecasts. Nature-based solutions (NBS) projects are shown with descriptions, implementation status and locations on the map, so you can see how your city is changing on the ground.

CitiAir is developed within the European UPSURGE project and is currently available in pilot form for Belfast, Breda, Budapest, Katowice and Maribor.

With CitiAir you can:
• Check current air quality at key points in your city
• View air quality forecasts to plan outdoor activities
• Receive general suggestions on how to adapt your activities when air quality is worse
• Explore ongoing and planned nature-based (NBS) projects in your city
• Rate and comment on projects, contributing your feedback
• Report geo-located environmental “green issues”, such as litter, degraded green areas or other problems

CitiAir does not require you to create an account: the app minimises personal data collection and uses your location only to display the most relevant environmental information around you.

CitiAir is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision support. It offers environmental (air quality) information and general, non-medical recommendations to support public health awareness only.
