LumiCheck is an offline emergency lighting test log for electricians and
lighting contractors who test other people's buildings.
Run the annual duration test and record the minute you first find each fitting
dark. Elapsed time is worked out from the moment you started, so locking the
phone, closing the app, or running the battery flat loses nothing. Reopen and
the test is still going. At the end you know which fittings did not hold their
rated duration and when each one dropped, which is what a remedial quote is
built from.
WHAT IT DOES
Duration test timer
- Start the discharge and walk the building. Elapsed time is derived from the
start, never from a counter that stops when the app does.
- Hourly prompts through the test, and a prompt when the target elapses.
- Mark a fitting the moment you find it dark. That time is a first
observation, not the instant it failed, so the fitting held at most that
long and the report says so.
- Runtime against rated duration per fitting, tracked across annual tests.
Luminaire register
- One register per site, with maintained, non-maintained, sustained, exit sign
and central battery fittings.
- Stick a QR label on the housing and open a fitting's history by scanning it.
- Floor, zone, lamp type, battery type and rated duration on every fitting.
Standards
- US NFPA 101 (2021) sets the cadence: a functional test not less than 3 weeks
and not more than 5 weeks apart, lasting at least 30 seconds, and an annual
test of at least 90 minutes.
- UK BS 5266 and BS EN 50172: monthly functional test, and an annual test for
the fitting's full rated duration.
- Chosen per site, so a mixed portfolio is handled correctly, and the standard
is stamped on each test when it starts.
Test report PDF
- Inspection and test record with the full luminaire schedule, achieved
runtime, lux readings and per-fitting result.
- Defects and remedial actions table for the quote.
- Technician name, company, accreditation number and signature, as entered by
you. LumiCheck does not verify credentials.
Follow-up
- A 24-hour recharge re-check after a discharge test, because a cell can hold
its duration and then never take a charge again.
- Test due reminders, with a diagnostic screen when the phone is blocking them.
Lux readings are typed in from your own calibrated meter, and the report names
the instrument. The phone's light sensor is not used: it is uncalibrated and
cannot defend a figure to an inspector. A spot reading is one measurement, not
a survey.
Your site records stay on the device. There is no account and no cloud sync.
The app sends crash and usage diagnostics, and the standard tier shows ads.
WHO IT IS FOR
Commercial electricians, emergency lighting contractors and facilities
engineers who test emergency lighting across a portfolio of client sites and
have to hand over a record afterwards.
If you keep the fire logbook for a single premises you look after yourself,
FireBook is the better fit.
LumiCheck is a record-keeping and audit-assistance tool. It does not substitute
for a competent person's judgement, certified electrical inspection, or sign-off
by the fire authority or authority having jurisdiction.
