Ratings and reviews

App works ok. Not sure about the Mercury algorithms. My Samsung Galaxy S8 flags this app as a high background battery user. I have other apps that track my location that use a lot less battery in the background or foreground. Update: the explanation about hard braking is focused on tailgating. 80% of the time I get tagged for that there is no one in front of me but I am stopping for a red light. As a result, I now run a lot more yellow lights than I used to. I doubt that is the intention.

Nonsensical scoring. They admit they don't show you all of what makes up your score. The "secret sauce" is just selective statistics. Scores dropped significantly (30 points overall from 75 to 45) during the last two weeks of 90 day window, whereas my driving has not changed much. I haven't even checked if they'll give me the discount for safe driving, and I don't really care. This app is obviously a scam. Don't waste your time.

I don't know what they use or how they use it to gage driving habits but it feels like I'm building my credit score and it takes years of practicing the same best practices over and over to see little to no improvement on your score. Especially, the speeding part? That hasn't moved once since I got the app and I drove 300 miles both ways without going over the speed limit on the trip because I wanted to see how it would score me.
