Kiln Log is a pottery and ceramics tracker for potters who want one place to log every piece, glaze recipe, and kiln firing — a clay diary that follows your work from the wheel or hand-building table through bisque, glaze, and the finished shelf.

Most potters end up with the same mess: a scattered notebook of glaze recipes that never matches the piece it was used on, and no real memory of which kiln schedule made that celadon run or that mug crawl. Kiln Log replaces the notebook — every piece, every glaze, and every firing in one log, on your device.

THE PIECE SHELF
Every piece you throw or hand-build gets its own card: a name, a form (bowl, mug, plate, vase, planter, sculpture, jar, or your own category), the clay body you used — stoneware, porcelain, earthenware, whatever is on your shelf — and rough dimensions. A stage badge tracks it through greenware, bisque, glazed, and finished, so a glance at your shelf tells you what still needs to happen next. Filter by stage to see everything sitting in bisque, everything waiting to be glazed, or everything already done.

THE GLAZE LIBRARY
Build a recipe once and reuse it across every piece it goes on. Add as many component lines as the recipe needs, each with its own percentage, set the target cone, and pick a finish — matte, satin, glossy, or crackle. Attach notes on where the recipe came from or how you mixed the batch. Link a glaze to a piece and you always know exactly what went on it.

THE FIRING LOG
Log the kiln you fired in, the target cone, and the actual ramp / hold / cool schedule you programmed into the controller — segment by segment, in the order you ran it — alongside which pieces went in that load. Add result notes when you unload: what came out right, what crawled, what pinholed, what you'd change next time. Every past firing stays in the log, so instead of trying to remember what you did three months ago, you look it up.

THE ADVISOR
When you want a second opinion before you commit clay, glaze, or kiln time, the built-in advisor answers three kinds of questions. Paste a glaze recipe with your target cone or desired finish for ratio and adjustment ideas. Describe a clay body and target cone for firing curve pointers. Describe a defect on a piece — crawling, pinholing, crazing — for troubleshooting suggestions. Every answer carries a plain disclaimer: it's a starting point, not a verdict, and a test tile always beats a guess.
