Tea Brewing is a gongfu tea log for loose leaf drinkers: keep a library of teas, log every infusion of a session — water temperature, steep time, leaf weight, infusion number — and let the app remember your best-rated brew of that leaf. It is not a caffeine tracker or a tea encyclopedia. It is the notebook a gongfu session needs.
The idea it's built around: the same leaf, steeped again and again, tastes different every time. Infusion 1 is tight and closed. Infusion 3 might be the peak. Infusion 6 is spent. Most brewing apps log a single cup and stop there — this one treats a session as a sequence, because that's what gongfu brewing is. Log the first infusion, and "Save & brew infusion 2" re-arms the form with the steep time laddered up for your tea type, so one sitting with a gaiwan becomes five or six logged rows instead of one. A steep curve on the session card shows exactly where that leaf peaked and where it fell off, infusion by infusion.
Water temperature comes first, because it's the variable that makes or breaks a leaf: a green tea at 78°C is sweet, the same leaf at 95°C turns bitter and flat; a sheng pu-erh wants a flash steep under 95°C, a black tea wants near-boiling and three minutes. Add a tea and the form pre-fills a sensible starting point for its type — then, once rated, it pre-fills your own best temperature, steep time and leaf weight instead.
What's in the log:
• Gongfu session tracking — infusion number 1 through 8, grouped automatically as one session, steep time laddered up per infusion the way a real multi-steep session runs
• A steep curve on every session card — rating plotted against infusion number, so you see at a glance which cup was the best one
• Your Best Brew memory — the highest-rated brew of each tea becomes a one-tap preset next time you reach for that leaf
• An integrated steep timer inside the logging form, with one tap to copy the elapsed time into your steep time field
• A tea library with type, origin and tasting notes, plus an AI name lookup that suggests type and origin
• A brewing advisor for a cup that came out bitter, weak, sour, flat or astringent, grounded in a per-type reference table, not a generic chatbot
• An optional steep-again reminder — one local notification, timed to the hour you actually brew, naming your last tea and its best parameters
• A brew streak, a "teas dialled in" count and your deepest infusion on record
Free gets the full core loop: unlimited teas, brews and sessions, the integrated timer, your Best Brew preset on every tea, rating-by-type and weekly-trend charts, the steep-again reminder, and three brewing-advisor questions a day.
Pro removes the daily cap on the advisor, unlocks the Gongfu Steep Evolution chart — rating plotted across infusions 1 through 6, showing where a leaf peaks and where it drops off — and adds session comparison: your last three sessions of a tea lined up side by side, so you can see which change in temperature, time or leaf actually earned the extra star. Pro also removes the banner on the Brews and Teas tabs and the occasional interstitial after a logged brew.
Tea Brewing offers two auto-renewing subscriptions, Monthly and Annual. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel any time in your device's Account Settings. The core loop above stays free regardless — the subscription applies only to the Pro features above.
