About this app

Metcon is a free WOD timer built for CrossFit and functional fitness training — no account, no paywall, no ads, on any timer type, ever.

Most timer apps make you sign up, sit through ads between rounds, or paywall the formats you actually need mid-WOD. Metcon doesn't. Every format is free forever, so you can focus on the workout instead of a "skip ad" button.

WHY ATHLETES USE METCON
• Read it from across the gym floor. Big, high-contrast digits and hard color states (work, rest, warning) are built to be legible at a glance, mid-rep, from ten feet away — not squinted at up close like a phone-first design.
• Never lose a workout to a locked screen. The timer keeps running accurately in the background, so a phone call, a locked screen, or switching apps mid-round doesn't throw off your clock.
• Skip the setup every time. Save any workout as a preset and reload it in one tap next time you run it — no re-entering rounds and rest periods before every class.
• Train with zero signal. Metcon works fully offline, because gyms are exactly where phone signal goes to die. No internet connection needed for any timer type.
• See your effort, not just your time. Workout history logs every session, and if you connect a Bluetooth heart rate monitor (Garmin, chest straps, and more), you get a heart rate curve for that session too.
• Show it to the whole class. Cast your timer to a TV with Chromecast — turn any gym's wall-mounted screen into a shared WOD clock the whole room can see.
• Hear your cues without losing your music. Voice and sound cues for phase changes and countdowns duck under whatever you're playing instead of cutting it off.

WOD TIMER FORMATS INCLUDED
• AMRAP — as many rounds/reps as possible in a set time
• EMOM — every minute on the minute, set your rounds and round length
• Tabata — classic 20/10 (or your own work/rest split) across your rounds
• For Time — race the clock, with or without a time cap
• Custom — your own work/rest/rounds combination
• Mix — chain any of the above formats together into one workout, with optional rest between blocks

WHAT YOU WON'T FIND HERE
No account required. No paywalled timer types. No ads between rounds or anywhere else. No subscription to unlock formats you already need today. Metcon's core timer is free forever — that's not an introductory offer, it's the whole plan.

BUILT FOR THE GYM, NOT THE COUCH
This app was designed around one real constraint: it needs to survive an actual WOD. That means a fullscreen display readable mid-rep from across the room, a clock that doesn't drift or reset if your screen locks, offline reliability because gym signal is never good, and zero friction between deciding on a workout and starting it. Every design decision traces back to that one job — being the clock you can trust to just run, every single time, without asking anything of you first.

WHO IT'S FOR
Built for CrossFit athletes, box owners running class timers on a shared screen, and anyone doing AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata, or For Time style interval training — whether you're following box programming, running your own WOD, or coaching a class.

Optional: enable a next-day workout reminder if you want a nudge to keep your streak going. Everything else works the moment you open the app, no setup required.
Tabata, EMOM, AMRAP and For Time - one free WOD timer, no ads, ever.

What’s new

New: a get-ready countdown before your first round, plus halfway, one-minute and ten-second callouts so you don't have to watch the clock. For Time can now run without a cap and has a Finish button. The screen stays on during workouts, and each cue has its own vibration. Usage analytics is now off unless you turn it on in Settings.
