Put a working Commodore 64 on your Android device. Retro-64 is built on VICE, the emulator that has been the reference for C64 accuracy for over thirty years.

WORKS THE MOMENT YOU OPEN IT
The app ships free, open-source ROMs and a small demo program. Together they boot a real emulated Commodore 64 and run it straight away, with no files, no account and no network. You can watch a C64 come up before you decide anything.

LOAD WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE
Disk images (D64, D71, D81, G64), tapes (TAP, T64), cartridges (CRT), programs (PRG, P00) and SID music. Point the app at a folder on your device and it catalogues what it finds; zipped downloads work as they are, no unpacking required.

BUILT FOR TOUCH AND FOR CONTROLLERS
A full C64 keyboard laid out for the screen, a draggable on-screen joystick you can arrange how you like, and support for Bluetooth and USB gamepads.

ABOUT COMMODORE'S ROMS
Commercial C64 software was written against Commodore's own BASIC and KERNAL, which are still under copyright and cannot be shipped with any emulator. To run your old games you supply those yourself - dump them from a C64 you own, use a licensed set such as C64 Forever, or copy them from an existing VICE installation. The app files them in the right place automatically, and a zipped ROM set works without unpacking. The built-in open ROMs are an independent reimplementation and will not run most commercial titles.

This app ships with no copyrighted software and no games. Add your own legally owned C64 titles to begin.

Retro-64 is built on the VICE emulator and released under the GNU General Public License.
