Dr. Moku's teaching method is perfect for complete beginners to learn Japanese and Korean Hangul without rote memorization.

Mnemonics are memory tricks that help you remember and retrieve abstract concepts. By focussing on Dr. Moku's mnemonic clues, audio, and imagery, your will brain will auto-magically associate the shape of the character with the sound.

Learn the Japanese alphabets (Hiragana and Katakana) on your own and in record time. Master the Korean alphabet (Hangul) quickly and slickly with minimal effort.

Don’t you hate when companies claim to make learning fun?

There really is nothing "fun" about learning languages.

There’s definitely satisfaction in impressing friends, passing exams, and using your language skills in the real world but the FUN comes in the time you SAVE by finding the right learning method.

Dr. Moku strives to make learning languages painless and effective so you have more time to create your own fun.

Mnemonics work.

The first Dr. Moku app was published way back in 2010, it was primitive and clunky but it helped tens of thousands of people to learn Hiragana and Katakana without the pain of rote memorization.

This new app is the start of a whole new chapter. The vision is to gradually add new languages and subjects using the same mnemonic techniques.

Stick around, it's going to be fun!

I had this app on my old phone and loved it, but it is not the same as before. App needs polishing - there are lots of duplicate characters listed in the Hiragana section. The Phrasebook has huge gaps in it - for example, the food section does not tell you how to say 'I want to order this' or 'What is the price?'. The loading time is too long for a small amount of information. I would not recommend this app to someone wanting to learn Japanese.

Hello Lauren. That is a good suggestion for the additional phrases, I will get on it. About the duplicated Hiragana, could you please tell me more? You can reply here or send me a quick mail to info@drmoku.com

I really like the concept. I found myself being able to recognize some of the characters on the Japanese games I play and was excited. I also love that they have Korean and Arabic alphabets you can learn and appreciate there being a Spanish option to switch to so I can fortify both languages. Only complaint is that the audio sometimes doesn't line up correctly or doesn't play at all. Also, I would like to see a course for the Cyrillic alphabet. I'm thinking about learning Russian.

Thank you Erin! Yes we worked really hard on the Spanish versions. Could you please send me an Error Report from within the app any time you find an audio issue and I can fix it straight away. Thanks again

Very very promising! I can tell this is an early release so I'm keeping that in mind. The app lags a lot, especially when you first open it as I'm assuming it's downloading the necessary content. Might be better if it just took a little longer to load, I thought the app was broken for a minute. I love the varied content while studying, it's cool how it switches between vocab and quizzes. But some of the audio definitely did not match up with any options. Will surely come back to see the updates.
