Duolingo is a great app for learning easier languages that are closer to English. I love how it goes from the basics to very complicated content. It's a great app, and I like it a lot. There's just a couple things they could fix. Their tips aren't always that helpful and some words aren't actually accurate. Also, the listening option goes very quick unless you press the turtle, which makes it go way too slow. The voices at times are unclear as well. There are also other things that I can't fit!

A lot if repetition, which is good. I indicated my purpose in learning was for travel, but the words and phrases they started with had little or nothing to do with travel. The options to hear the speech at regular speed or at slower speed, word by word, is very useful. Free version has ads. I find myself thinking that people who do not spell well would have a very hard time with this unless they have good speech to text facility on their phone

Only app to learn a language so I can not compare to anything else. But...in general, I think it is a good starter for someone learning. It can be very (VERY) frustrating at times because the audio goes SO FAST. I am a beginner! I think the developers need to have a "slower" choice instead of the turtle. Also, no real way to contact Duolingo to mention these issues. But, in about 2 years, I can muddle through the news by reading! Don't ask about hearing or speaking, those are my learning issues
