This app is amazing!! I have learned many new Danish words and phrases in preparation for an upcoming trip. I like the way the lessons progress with pictures, audio and repetition. The fact that my progress also weakens over time is great because it helps me to know which words I need to keep practicing. I have a reminder set for 8 every night and my points goal requires less than five minutes of practice, but you can increase or I decrease that. Wonderful app!
A really fun and casual way to learn new languages! However, I would suggest at the beginning of each lesson to have an overview of each new word, showing how it's pronounced? I find myself winging the lessons often and not retaining the information. Other than that, Duolingo is a fantastic alternative to paid classes!
Really good way to learn basics! There are some weird issues with translation exercises occasionally, but that should be expected. My only real complaint is that my fluency percent in French keeps randomly going down? I started at 52%, I practice every day and now it's down to 47%?
It is wonderful. I get to become closer to my classmates and share insights of my culture compared to theirs. Having travelled around the world to China, Israel, Hong Kong, Kenya and Singapore people are amazed at how knowledgeable I am about their culture. It is in part because of my heritage and a love for books and listening to conversations around me. People think that talking makes you a good Conversationalist. It doesn't. It honestly makes you worse. Active listening to someone makes you better. So what would my advice be concerning Duolingo and achieving success with it? Do the lessons every day one language at a time and immerse yourself completely with the culture, mannerisms, accents, and read, listen, and translate. Or if you hate translating just write in the target language every day with a dictionary (preferably Collins) and soon you won't have a need for it. Have fun and enjoy!
Awesome app and high quality audio. A few other apps sounds are very harsh on the ears. Very addictive, fun, and easy to understand and use. Can you add more stuff to the store? I have already bought everything and I still have 144 lingots. Thanks and keep up the great work!
I really do like how they improved the gamification of this app, it's very subtle now and still motivates. Only thing what brothers me from time to time is the pronunciation of some words by the app, which sometimes makes hard to understand at the first try. The ads in the free version don't really bother much.
