CardioEcho, Echocardiography Knowledge for Physicians and Medical Professionals
About this app
CardioEcho is the portal for transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) for physicians and medical professionals in clinical practice. The content incorporates current guidelines and recommendations from organizations such as the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), and the German Society of Cardiology (DGK), and is regularly updated.
CardioEcho provides information in four sections:
A. Systematic examination procedure: an overview of all transthoracic echocardiographic planes, the qualitative assessment of structures and cardiac function in these planes, documentation, and the necessary measurements.
B. Cardiac diseases: information on valvular heart disease, left ventricular systolic function, left ventricular diastolic function, cardiomyopathies, and pulmonary hypertension. The causes of the diseases, common echocardiographic findings, and pathogenesis are described.
The examination procedure describes the primary and secondary indicators/measurement parameters for assessing the severity of each disease, including pathological threshold values. Detailed tables are provided for evaluating severity.
C. Measurement Parameters: The most important steps for acquiring the individual echocardiographic parameters are outlined, including optimal scan and imaging planes, important information on device settings, and explanations of the individual steps for documentation and quantification.
The diseases are linked to all measurement parameters. Users can directly access the individual examination steps from within the disease descriptions.
D. Normal Values: An overview of current echocardiographic normal values is provided.
CardioEcho is supplemented by a comprehensive list of abbreviations, a detailed table of contents/index with corresponding links, and a selection of current literature.
