Chalkstaff gives you a faithful classroom rehearsal board right on your device, presenting a green chalkboard with printed staff lines where you can log and organize your practice pieces. Each piece holds a song title, a tempo marking, an optional section focus, and freeform rehearsal notes—everything you need to keep your setlist clear. The Board tab works as your at-a-glance dashboard, showing a hand-drawn total pieces counter, a smaller pieces-practiced-today circle, and a short chalk excerpt of your most recent entry. A quick-action button on the Board sends you straight to the Write tab, where a blank chalkboard surface and simple text fields let you create a new piece and save it instantly. Over on the Songs tab, every saved entry appears as a chalk-written title and tempo on staff lines, making your full repertoire easy to scan and revisit. Tapping any piece opens it for editing, while a long-press or swipe action triggers a cross-out eraser gesture that removes it without checkmarks or standard confirmation pop-ups. The Lookup tab offers a chalk-drawn magnifying glass above a search field, so you can filter your collection by title or section and see matching snippets written in that same handwritten chalk style. All your pieces are stored directly on your device using local storage, which means nothing leaves your phone and you never need to create an account or deal with cloud sign-ins. The visual feedback stays true to a well-used music room blackboard, complete with faint dust smudges, a wooden chalk tray at the bottom, and colored chalk sticks that serve as the tab bar. Titles and notes appear with a slight hand-drawn wobble, while sections get a colored chalk underline—blue for a verse, red for a chorus—to help you navigate your practice plan at a single glance. When the board is completely empty, you see a clean staff with a small treble clef and the ghosted prompt “Write your first piece” to encourage a gentle start. Choir members, band musicians, music students, and teachers can all use Chalkstaff to keep rehearsal fragments visible, organized, and free of digital clutter. Because your data stays private and offline, your practice notes are always ready the moment you open the app, with no waiting and no distractions.
