Dogear is a vocabulary drill that recreates the feel of a wooden index card file box right on your device. Built around the Leitner spaced repetition system, it separates your words into five compartments so you focus on what needs the most practice. Each word lives on a 3×5 index card with a colored top edge, handwritten-style text, and a small binder ring hole for an authentic, tactile look. The Today tab shows only the words due for review, letting you flip a card to reveal the translation and swipe to move on. In the Words tab, your entire collection is grouped by box level behind colored divider tabs so you always know how well you know each term. When you’re ready to learn something new, the Add tab presents a blank card where you can type the foreign word, its native translation, an optional example sentence, and the app places it in the first box by default. The Search tab scans across all your cards instantly, displaying matching results as miniature card thumbnails. Your home dashboard gives you an at-a-glance check of your progress with two chunky counters: one for total words and another for cards you’ve mastered in level five. Those counters look like stacks wrapped with thick colored rubber bands, with the numbers handwritten on little pieces of masking tape. A stray paperclip sits nearby, and a Start Review button lets you jump straight into your daily drill. You also see the last three words you added, tucked into the dashboard as tiny index cards so you can quickly revisit them. Everything you create stays on your device, stored locally without any need for an account or an internet connection. Because Dogear demands no sign-up and no cloud sync, your vocabulary is always private and always available, whether you’re on a plane, in a quiet library, or just offline. By sticking to a physical, no-distraction card-file metaphor, the app helps you build long-term memory through brief, focused review sessions each day.
