About this app

EtsiTagi is an Android app for unique QR tags. Put a code on an item, a painted stone, a door, or an event. When someone scans it, they leave a message — a small logbook, a notice board, or a find report.

What you can use it for
• Lost and found. Tag keys, a bag, a bike, or a pet collar. A finder scans the code and leaves a message; a new message can show as a phone notification.
• Stone-painting logbook. Paint a rock, add a QR, and leave it on a trail. Later finders add a greeting. With a public tag, messages can appear in a shared chat and on an etsitagi.com page.
• Party guestbook. Print a tag for a birthday, wedding, or cabin weekend. Guests scan and write a note from their phone.
• Bulletin board. Stick a tag on a notice board, club room, classroom, or office kitchen. A public thread is a shared message board; you approve what everyone sees.
• Geocaching-style hunts. Hide tags on a route, in a park, or at an event. Finders log the find and can attach GPS coordinates with map links. Location is not tracked in the background.
• Also: a visitor log for a nest box or hide, a class trip, a club notice, exhibition feedback.

How it works
• Create a tag in the app. You get a unique id and a QR code (www.etsitagi.com). That id is never issued again.
• Print it or show it on the item, stone, or poster.
• Another user opens EtsiTagi, scans the code or types the id, and leaves a message (up to 300 characters; the count shows when the field is focused).
• Before logging, they can check the id: whether it exists and whether the tag is public or private. If public, the public page link is shown (open, copy, share).
• A new message can show as a phone notification.

Private or public
• Private tag: a person-to-person conversation. A new log stays “Unknown user” for the finder until the owner replies.
• Public tag: one shared chat titled with the PUB id. Only the owner approves messages for everyone. Usernames are masked. The original FMT tag id is not shown. Owner messages are marked with a crown.
• A tag with no logs yet can be marked public. Approved messages appear at etsitagi.com/?PUBid (not the tag’s FMT id).
• You can make a public tag private; if it has logs, it cannot be made public again. All public messages are deleted for everyone.

Conversations and tags
• Logs appear in Conversations. The owner can open a public chat from My tags and send a message even if the thread is still empty.
• You can block others from posting in Conversations on a public tag; they can still use Log tag. The owner can always reply.
• A banned user cannot log your tags or message you.
• A private description for you, plus a separate message for whoever scans the tag.
• Temporarily disable a tag or remove it. A removed id cannot be used again.

If a newer version is on Google Play, the app can require an update before you continue.

EtsiTagi is not a GPS tracker. It leaves a trail when a person scans a tag and logs a message.
