Plan a balanced board-and-batten layout before you mark the wall or buy trim.

Board & Batten Calculator is a focused offline planner for full-height feature walls, accent walls, and framed wainscoting. Keep multiple independent walls or runs in one local project and review the layout from a consistent wall edge.

PLAN BY GAP OR COUNT

Start with a target clear gap or a fixed number of vertical battens. Choose battens at both edges or equal end gaps. The result shows the target, ideal, nominal and realized clear spacing, center-to-center spacing, and the selected edge treatment.

LAY OUT WAINSCOTING

Plan one row of equal wainscoting fields with perimeter stiles and continuous top and bottom rails. Enter actual installed face widths rather than relying on nominal lumber names.

KEEP OPENINGS VISIBLE

Add keep-clear rectangles and an optional clearance for doors, windows, outlets, switches, cabinets, or other obstructions. Intersecting battens, stiles, and rails are divided into cut pieces without silently moving the pattern. The app does not detect hidden utilities or choose a required clearance for you.

USE CLEAR MARKS AND DIAGRAMS

Review a proportional wall diagram, start-edge positions, centerline positions, and text-based mark tables. US customary values display to the nearest 1/16 inch and metric values to the nearest 0.1 mm. A value that required display rounding is prefixed with ≈; calculations do not reuse rounded display marks.

Tap Copy marks only when you want to place the current wall's plain-text mark list on Android's system clipboard. Clipboard content is outside app-private storage and may be accessed or retained by Android, the keyboard, or another app permitted by the operating system.

REVIEW CUTS AND MATERIAL TOTALS

See retained pieces and linear totals by material profile. Apply an editable waste allowance to the planning total. The summary is not a stock-board optimizer, price estimate, or promise that offcuts can be reused.

LOCAL PROJECTS AND PDF REPORTS

Create, rename, duplicate, save, reopen, and delete projects on your device. Generate a PDF locally, then save it through Android's document picker or share a temporary copy through Android's share sheet only when you choose.

HOW TO USE

1. Create a project and choose US customary or metric measurements.
2. Add a wall or run and enter its measured dimensions.
3. Choose board and batten or wainscoting, then enter actual profile widths.
4. Select the spacing method and edge treatment.
5. Add any keep-clear openings and user-selected clearance.
6. Review the diagram, marks, cut pieces, totals, and warnings.
7. Verify the plan on the actual wall before buying, cutting, or fastening.
