Pick up your knitting or crochet project right where you left it.

Purlstead keeps your completed rows, repeat counters, next-step note and your own PDF pattern together in a quiet, local-first workspace.

COUNT WITH CONFIDENCE

Use the large Finish row button to advance the main counter and any linked counters together. Undo restores the whole last counting step. Keep extra counters independent when a different part of your project needs its own count.

KNOW YOUR PLACE IN A REPEAT

Set a repeat length to see completed repeats and the next row within the repeat. All counts represent completed rows or units. Optional goals help track progress without stopping your counter at the target.

KEEP YOUR OWN PATTERN CLOSE

Choose a PDF from the Android file picker. Purlstead saves a private copy and remembers your selected page and reading-line position. Fit and zoom controls help you follow smaller details. PDF pages are shown as images; text extraction and automatic symbol recognition are not included.

COME BACK TO THE RIGHT PROJECT

Organize projects by craft and color. Keep yarn, needle or hook size, notes and your next step alongside each project. Archive completed work and restore it when needed. An original practice worksheet and sample project help you explore before adding your own pattern.

TAKE A PROJECT WITH YOU

Export a .stitchproj archive containing the project's counters, details, recent history and attached PDF. Import creates a new copy, without overwriting existing projects. This is manual backup and transfer, not cloud synchronization.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

No account, ads, subscriptions, analytics or internet permission. Projects stay in private storage on your device unless you choose to export them. Exported archives are not encrypted: choose a safe destination and respect pattern creators' rights when sharing.

LIMITS AND BACKUPS

Up to 50 projects, 8 counters per project and 100 recent count events. PDF imports support up to 20 MiB and 200 pages; password-required or unsupported files may not open. Project archives may be up to 32 MiB. Counts support 0 to 999,999.

Uninstalling, clearing app storage or losing your device can remove your projects. Export important projects regularly; do not rely on automatic device backup.
