file clean helps you check photos for privacy-sensitive metadata before you save or share them.

Everything is designed around a simple workflow:

SCAN PHOTO METADATA

Select up to 10 photos at a time and file clean checks for supported privacy-sensitive metadata, including:

• Location and GPS information
• Camera and device information
• Date and time metadata
• Owner and author information
• Device and lens serial information
• Embedded comments
• XMP metadata
• IPTC / Photoshop metadata
• JPEG comments

UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS FOUND

Instead of simply saying that metadata exists, file clean provides a readable privacy scan so you can see what information may be embedded in each selected photo.

CLEAN SUPPORTED JPEG PHOTOS

When privacy-sensitive metadata is detected in a supported JPEG photo, file clean can create a separate cleaned copy.

Your original photo remains unchanged.

VERIFY BEFORE SHARING

After cleaning, file clean scans the new copy again to verify that supported privacy-sensitive metadata has been removed before enabling it for safe sharing.

SAVE OR SHARE

Verified cleaned copies can be:

• Saved to Pictures/file clean/
• Shared using Android's standard sharing interface

Photos that are already clean can be shared without modification.

CURRENT VERSION

Verified metadata cleaning currently supports JPEG photos.

Other selected image formats may be scanned where supported, but cleaning is intentionally limited to JPEG while we continue expanding and validating additional formats.
