Whydi is not a gentle reminder app.

Most reminder apps post a notification you swipe away without reading. Whydi does something
different: when you miss a deadline, it takes over your entire screen — over whatever app you're
using — and stays there until you either mark the task complete or type why you didn't do it.

You can't scroll past it. That's the point.


WRITE THE EXCUSE

Skipping something isn't free. If you don't do a task, Whydi asks you to say why, in your own
words, before it lets you go. Those excuses are saved, so over time you can read back the reasons
you gave yourself. Most people find that harder to ignore than any streak counter.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE

Whydi has no account, no sign-up and no server. It never sends your tasks anywhere, because there
is nowhere to send them. Everything lives in a database on your device, and you can export it all
to a standard .ics file whenever you like.


ABOUT THE PERMISSIONS

Whydi asks for a few permissions that look unusual, so here is exactly why:

• Display over other apps — this is the takeover itself. Without it, a missed deadline just passes
by silently and the app can't do the one thing it exists for.
• Alarms & reminders — fires the takeover at the exact minute your deadline hits.
• Notifications — the heads-up before a deadline, so nothing arrives unannounced.
• Unrestricted battery usage — stops Android from killing the check while your phone is idle.

Whydi requests no internet, location, contacts, camera or storage access for your personal data.


Whydi is for anyone who knows exactly what they should be doing and does it anyway — later, or
never. If a notification is enough for you, you don't need this app.
