An offline reference to life saving appliances (LSA) and fire fighting appliances (FFA) carried aboard merchant ships under SOLAS
Preparing for an MCA oral examination? This app puts every item of life saving and fire fighting equipment in your pocket, built around how examiners actually ask: from a photograph, with a figure, and out loud.
WHAT IS INSIDE
- 131 equipment items covering the complete LSA Code and FSS Code: 56 life saving appliances and 75 fire safety systems, arranged in 23 chapters.
- A photograph of every item, so you learn to recognise equipment the way an examiner presents it.
- What the Code requires, with the real figures: dimensions, capacities, burning times, release depths, discharge rates.
- The maintenance and inspection schedule for every item, from the weekly checks to the five yearly tests.
- The practical angle: how each item is used on board and what the examiner is listening for.
- 525 examiner style questions with full model answers.
FOUR WAYS TO STUDY
BROWSE: work through the equipment chapter by chapter, filtered to the LSA Code, the FSS Code, or everything.
SEARCH: find any item by name, code reference, or any word in the text.
PICTURE QUIZ: identify the item from its photograph, with the wrong answers drawn from the same chapter so they are genuinely confusable.
ORAL PRACTICE: an examiner style question appears on its own. Say your answer aloud, in full, then reveal the model answer and mark yourself honestly. Speaking is the skill being examined, and this trains it.
MADE FOR SEAFARERS
Everything works completely offline. No account, no adverts, no data collection, and nothing to sign up for. Study in your cabin, on watch handover breaks, or anywhere the connectivity has given up.
