About this app

FlightNav GPS is an aeronautical GPS navigator for General Aviation (GA) pilots, aviation enthusiasts, spotters and passengers. It turns your Android phone or tablet into a flight instruments panel: interactive map, position, speed, altitude, heading, flight log and replay.

Real-time GPS map — Track the aircraft position on a live map with Dark, Light and Satellite themes.
Flight instruments — Ground speed, altitude, heading, vertical speed and G-meter always visible.
Map modes — North-Up and Track-Up for classic orientation or heading-aligned view.
OpenAIP airspaces — Aeronautical overlay with airspaces, airports and navaids rendered by class priority.
Airports database — 1800+ integrated airports (OurAirports), search by ICAO, IATA or city name (Italian aliases supported: Milano, Roma, Bologna, etc.).
Auto-recording — Starts recording at 42 knots and stops after landing. No need to touch the phone.
Background recording — Recording continues even if you close the app or lock the screen.
Flight replay — Replay your recorded flights with adjustable speed from 0.5x to 4x.
GPX and KML export — Export your flights for Google Earth or other aviation software.
Flight charts — Generate altitude/speed charts and share them as images.
Route planning — Set departure and destination with ICAO/IATA codes, distance and bearing of the route.
Direct-To navigation — Direct route with distance and bearing to the selected point.
Waypoint management — Add waypoints on the map with long-press.
GPX import — Load pre-planned routes from GPX files.
Offline maps — Import MBTiles maps to fly without connection.
Distance rings — Circles at 10, 25 and 50 NM for visual reference.
GNSS satellite status — GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou with signal and accuracy details.
G-meter — G-force monitoring with peak max/min and color-coded warnings.
Widget — Speed, altitude and flight duration directly on the home screen.
Flight history — Browse all recorded flights with export and sharing.
Language and units — Italian, English or system. Configurable units: knots/kmh, feet/meters, NM/km.

IMPORTANT — FlightNav GPS is a supplemental visualization tool, NOT a certified system for real-world navigation. It does NOT replace certified cockpit instruments, official AIRAC aeronautical charts or filed IFR/VFR flight plans. Always use certified sources (Jeppesen, Navigraph, national eAIP) for operational planning.

What’s new

• Fix: on startup a "phantom" route could appear (a line on the map with no departure or arrival). The route is now restored correctly, with its labels.
• New "Clear route" button to remove the route whenever you want.
• Flight recording keeps running even if you close the app while recording. If you're not recording, closing the app shuts everything down: no GPS left running in the background.
