Missing 1⭐ because the app performs like cold molasses. But the interactive lessons are effective. Speech recognition is pretty good. I'm a near-beginner with a learn-as-you-go, make mistakes to learn approach. Ex: early on it suddenly asked me to translate an English word straight into hiragana & I was momentarily like, "Wait, it didn't warn me I needed to add Japanese to my keyboard!" That's a feature, IMO. Being challenged outside of my comfort zone works for my learning style. A useful tool!

This is the most fun I've ever had learning Japanese. It feels like a visual novel game with funny scenarios and characters, I love this so much. I could totally do this every day. It feels like playing a fun game instead of a learning app. Very anime style, very gamified, very much like a visual novel with fun references, too. I might go premium just to support the hard work, art style, and creativity.

i think this is an excellent interactive way to practice Japanese. my only gripe is that the option to turn off the background music doesnt seem to work and the music just continues to play loudly in the background despite the volume option clearly being at zero. the app also sometimes glitches and the mic button disappears, forcing me to exit out of my leason and erasing my progress. overall a really great app but could use better optimization as many other reviews have been saying.
