"SMS Backup & Restore", even though it performs a simple task, is a major project to develop and maintain. Because there are so many devices and so many different apps for texting, it requires constant attention, development, and improvements. in order to keep it moving, there is a symbolic fee for unlocking all the features.
The free version allows you to share 6 messages each time and includes ads. It is a bit more complex but it actually allows the full functionality, especially for shorter conversions. If you upgrade to pro, you can send all the messages in one go.

Converting And Exporting SMS - Formats:
"SMS Backup, Print & Restore" will convert your SMS text messages to PDF, CSV, HTML, or JPG formats, export the conversations to files, and save them to your device storage.
It will use these files as attachments and share them via different sharing apps. the files are all restorable, meaning you can retrieve your texting data back to the device.

PDF File:
The best option for printing SMS text messages and media (MMS/RCS messages).
Can be opened by Adobe Reader.
"SMS Backup, Restore & Print" will create beautifully designed PDF files with graphics and text.

HTML File:

Excellent tool. I use it primarily to preserve text messages. It would be very helpful if once I create the documents or I could delete the actual text messages from the app itself April 2023 I use this app happily for quite a few years. Something happened within the last month or so, so that I am unable to boot the app. I have tried contacting the developer but they won't respond. Very disappointed! I found another app that may be even better when it comes to selecting and printing texts.

After the AD. It is an OUTSTANDING APP. With a mind-boggling amount of options for formatting the output. I have never seen this many options in an APP. Unfortunately, none of it's free (ok 8 messages are free). It's $10.99 but marked down to $8.49. BTW if someone is going to charge $10.99 for an APP do they need to also subject you to ads? That is just being greedy. But if you need something to bring into court nicely formatted for a Judge to read this is the APP to get.

I am an attorney and am using this app to download chains of text messages that I am going to have to present at trial. Most apps cannot download pictures and videos with messages. This one does. The interface is great, the downloads are customizable, the data appears to be complete. The only thing that appears to be missing is that it cannot find message chains that were sent by FB Messenger in which one of the recipients is on a phone and the other was using Messenger. Devs, please address!
