"SMS Backup & Restore", even though it performs a simple task, is a major project to develop and maintain. Because there are so many devices and so many different apps for texting, it requires constant attention, development, and improvements. in order to keep it moving, there is a symbolic fee for unlocking all the features.
The free version allows you to share 6 messages each time and includes ads. It is a bit more complex but it actually allows the full functionality, especially for shorter conversions. If you upgrade to pro, you can send all the messages in one go.

Converting And Exporting SMS - Formats:
"SMS Backup, Print & Restore" will convert your SMS text messages to PDF, CSV, HTML, or JPG formats, export the conversations to files, and save them to your device storage.
It will use these files as attachments and share them via different sharing apps. the files are all restorable, meaning you can retrieve your texting data back to the device.

PDF File:
The best option for printing SMS text messages and media (MMS/RCS messages).
Can be opened by Adobe Reader.
"SMS Backup, Restore & Print" will create beautifully designed PDF files with graphics and text.
It supports SMS text messages, as well as MMS multimedia messages (photos and links)

HTML File:
A compact file - can be open via the web browser. Good for backup or for printing long conversations or in case the PDF option does not work properly.

I bought this a couple years ago, and pretty much regret the purchase, it works just enough to say it does, but if you have long texts with lots of pictures it never seems to get all the pictures, not sure about the texts as the one's I'm interested in saving are years long, over the past couple years I have reached out to support but got nothing back, seems to work ok for texts with only a year in length

Love it. Works perfectly for me. I can export literally year long conversations with 10k+ messages, or short ones with ease. The only thing I wish I could change / add, is that when exporting massive conversations that includes media / pics; that it would also include the audio recording messages we've sent to one another. If it can include other media displayed in HTML format, embedding audio messages should be an easy feature to add. Other than that, its a great app. 👍

Excellent app. Easy to use interface. Generates a variety of very easy-to-read output formats. Easy to share the output in a variety of ways. I gave it only a 3-star review because of one serious bug: it can't see all your conversations. I really wanted to print out one particular conversation, but it's completely invisible to the app. This is a simple 2-person conversation conducted entirely over the standard messaging app on a Pixel4a and Google's "messages for web".
