Anyone can say they ran a hundred kilometres. GritCore asks the harder question: how many people ever have?
Every exploit in GritCore carries a baseline, an estimate of how many people have ever completed it, measured against the population it belongs to. Finish one, and you get the figure that goes with it. Not a badge everybody gets. A number, and everything behind it.
HOW IT WORKS
Claim — pick the exploit, add the date, add whatever evidence you have. A watch file, a photo, a race result, or nothing at all.
Endorse — someone who was there backs it up. Endorsements come from real accounts and they are visible. A claim nobody will vouch for stays a claim.
Place — every verified exploit recomputes where you sit against the reference population, and against everyone else on GritCore.
VERIFY FROM A RECORDED ACTIVITY
Connect Health Connect and GritCore can read a workout you choose, using its distance and elevation as evidence for a claim.
It reads only at the moment you ask it to. Never in the background. Only three things: the exercise session, the distance, and the elevation gained.
Your route is never read or stored. Where you went is not GritCore's business.
ABOUT THE NUMBERS
Nobody knows exactly how many people have ever run a hundred kilometres. There is no registry. Every baseline in GritCore is an estimate built from race entries, federation data, and published participation figures.
So the app labels them. Each baseline carries a confidence level, and right now every single one reads "placeholder". They are honest estimates, not certified records. A claim verified here is not a world record and should not be presented as one.
They will tighten as better sources land, and when a figure changes the app says so rather than quietly moving it.
The part that is not an estimate is the endorsement. A person either vouched for your effort or they did not, and that is recorded exactly.
BADGES THAT COST SOMETHING
Summiteer — climb the height of Everest.
Ironheart — complete an Ironman-distance triathlon.
Centurion — run 100 km in a single effort.
Chasqui — verify three running exploits.
Initiate — claim your first verified exploit.
WHAT GRITCORE DOES NOT DO
No advertising. No analytics or tracking SDKs. No location permission — it is never requested. No access to contacts, photos, microphone, or camera. No purchases.
Your data is never sold and never shared with advertisers or data brokers.
You can delete your account from inside the app, or by email if you have already uninstalled it. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT ANYTHING
Attempting extreme physical feats carries a real risk of injury or death.
GritCore describes feats. It does not coach, supervise, screen, or assess anyone's readiness to attempt one. Nothing in the app is medical or training advice. You decide what to attempt, and you accept the risk of doing so.
Do not attempt something because a leaderboard suggested it. If you are unsure whether an activity is safe for you, speak to a doctor first.
Free. No ads. Available in English, French, Spanish, German and Dutch.
