Grandma or grandpa uses a phone, but you see how he or she struggles with small buttons, confusing menus and accidental presses on the wrong things? AbiÄpp solves this.
AbiÄpp is a phone app for the elderly and visually impaired. When you open it, there are only four large buttons on the screen. Each of them fills a full quarter of the screen, with the icon and text as large as possible. NO ADS. No pop-ups or distracting notifications.
📞 PHONE
A large dial pad, where each number takes up a full third of the screen width. Plus sign for international numbers. The call button is the entire width of the screen and green. The contact list shows names in large and phone numbers below. Contacts can be added manually or imported directly from the phone's memory one by one or all at once. The delete button is modest so as not to be pressed accidentally. If there are more than five contacts, a separate button appears to start the selection mode and delete multiple contacts at once.
🔦 FLASHLIGHT
One press on the home screen and the flashlight is on. The icon changes immediately - the turned off light bulb turns into a light bulb with rays, so that it is immediately clear that the flashlight is on. Five minutes later it turns off itself so that the battery does not run out if it is accidentally left on.
🚨 SOS EMERGENCY AID
In a moment of panic or in the event of a sudden health problem, an older person may have difficulty remembering a phone number or even who to call. AbiÄpp takes this burden off. The big red SOS button is right on the home screen. One press and the right person will receive the call. No need to remember the number, no need to go through menus, no need to make any decisions under stress.
When pressed, a thirty-second countdown starts. The large cancel button is the entire width of the screen and higher than any other. For the last fifteen seconds, the button flashes between white and red - conspicuously so that accidental presses do not go unnoticed. When the timer runs out, it will call the previously specified contact. The SOS contact can be set manually from a number or brought directly from the phone's contacts. One number, one action, no confusion.
🔍 MAGNIFIER
The phone's camera turns into a digital magnifying glass. The zoom in and out buttons are large. You can turn on the lamp if there is not enough light — then the rear flash will light up and the camera view will become brighter. Suitable for reading fine print on medicine packaging, price tags or newspapers.
🔐 PRIVACY
The Help app does not collect, send or share your data. The contacts remain on your phone. The camera is used only for the flashlight and magnifying glass, not for taking pictures. No internet is required. NO ADVERTISEMENTS ARE SHOWN.
👨👩👧 SUITABLE FOR A HELPER
A family member can install the app on grandma or grandpa's phone, set their number as an SOS contact and add contacts right away. After that, the elderly person can use the app independently, without guidance.
Simple, large, in Estonian. This is what a phone should be like for an old person.
