Already know hiragana and katakana? RogueKana is a hardcore drill for intermediate and advanced learners—not a beginner course. You type romaji for kana you already studied; the game is roguelite speed, recall, and long-term mastery.

WHO IT'S FOR

You should already be familiar with kana shapes and readings. RogueKana assumes that foundation and pushes you to answer faster, more accurately, and under pressure. If you are still learning what あ or ア mean, start with a textbook or intro app first—come back when you are ready to grind.

YOUR DOJO

Sign in with Google or play as a guest (link Google later to save progress on any device). From the home dojo, track your daily streak, enter a challenge, review progress, study in Learn mode, or open your battle log.

THE CHALLENGE (ROGUELITE RUNS)

Enter the dojo and face kana one question at a time—type the romaji on the built-in keyboard. Correct answers earn run XP and build streaks. Level up during the run and choose temporary power-ups: XP boosts, extra lives, streak bonuses, quick-answer rewards, warm-up bursts, and more. Rarity matters—Common to Epic picks can completely change how a run feels. Push as far as you can; when the run ends, you keep Dojo XP, coins, and credit toward missions.

RUN POWER-UPS

Each level-up offers a fresh set of choices. Stack XP multipliers, forgive mistakes with extra lives, ride long answer streaks for bonus XP, answer fast for time bonuses, or trigger short “next N answers” surges. Mix and match to chase high run levels and big payouts.

PROGRESS: SKILLS & MISSIONS

Your effort is never wasted. Dojo XP from finished runs raises your permanent meta level. Each level unlocks a new skill from a tiered tree (Common, Magic, Rare, Epic)—permanent buffs that shape every future run, from more XP and coins to extra starting lives and better power-up odds. Spend coins to respec and try new builds. Missions track achievements like runs completed, run levels reached, and lifetime correct answers—including script- and type-specific goals—with bonus Dojo XP and coins when you complete them.

LEARN MODE

Not every session has to be a full run. Pick hiragana or katakana, then drill by lesson type: Gojūon, Dakuon, Handakuon, or Yōon. Use the charts as a quick reference, then quiz yourself with the same romaji keyboard. Special Training unlocks when you miss enough kana in the dojo: target the characters that still slow you down until recall is automatic.

DAILY HABITS & REMINDERS

Keep your streak alive by training each day—the home screen shows your week at a glance. Optional daily dojo reminders nudge you at the time you choose.
