The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) app provides access to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois member information and resources. BCBSIL app also provides shopping information such as getting a quote and tracking an application.

Members can:
• Login, register or change password
• Easily access coverage, claims, and ID
• Check deductible and out of pockets amounts
• Find an in network doctor, hospital or facility
• Find a nearby urgent care facility
• Estimate the costs of procedures, tests and treatments
• View patient reviews and average wait time
• Search for doctors that speak Spanish
• View medical benefits and copay levels
• View pharmacy benefits and copay levels
• Send ID to Apple Wallet for offline access
• View their Explanation of Benefits
• Log in via Touch ID
• Share ID Card
• Live Chat with Customer Service
• Members with applicable pharmacy coverage can search for drug information and cost estimates, view and compare nearby pharmacies, and view reminders related to their prescriptions
• Members with applicable coverage can access MDLive for virtual visits with a doctor (MDLive uses allergies and medications from your HealthKit when requesting a virtual visit)

App won't even load. Constantly get the error message "We can't access the app right now. This can be caused by poor connectivity or an issue with our servers. Please try again later." My connectivity is fine - I'm getting email in my email apps, in browsing the web, I can use WiFi calling. No other apps report connectivity issues. So I tried turning WiFi off & just using the cellular network with this stupid BCBS IL app. Nope - still have the same error and same issue. This app is useless.

I started having issues with the app and website in November. I called customer service and they ran me through the gamut. Reset my account, cleared every cache on every browser, tried to get in from several different devices (app and website). The initial page would load but the claims area and search for provider area would give a "cannot load, try again later" message. Finally they set me up with a new account and password. It worked for 5 minutes and now same error. It is February.

It's hard to separate the app experience from the service you receive overall. Actually, no it isn't, they are both terrible! You can't access any real information thru the app (you can't see much more from the website) so I usually have to call for every issue anyway. I don't blame the web developers - when your company strategy is to make it as difficult as possible to get any claim covered, not having functional information retrieval systems is pretty good synergy!
