Fair selection of (audio) books but the app stops every few minutes, sometimes a few times in a minute and you have to keep restarting the book. Very frustrating. Overdrive is much more dependable although the selections are different. If I could get all of what I am looking for in Overdrive I would not use Hoopla.
Update (2/24). Installed memory card in my phone and the app no longer loads. Reinstalled and I'm unable to download audiobooks to the phone. Downgrading to 3 stars (initially 5 stars). I love this app - well designed, responsive and decent catalogue. So far, I've mostly delved into audiobooks. Highly recommend
I love that if they have a book it is available. Unlike the other program my library uses where I can be on the hold list for weeks or months for there copies to be available. One thing that could use improvement - it would be nice if a book is in a series to have which # the book is in the series. As it is now I have to switch between this app and goodreads to make sure I'm going in the right order. Also has some problems with the audio books voice just randomly stopping for no reason.
overall a good app. good selection of audio books and I've never had trouble with skipping. the problem is that it doesn't keep my spot in the book. sometimes, I'll be well into the book and the next time I open it, it starts all over. since I don't always bookmark, I often lose my place that way.
I have been using Hoopla for a couple years and very much like it. I love the concept and availability. Also, the ability to download books for listening. It gets a bit glitchy on playback, but not terribly bad. I have to reboot, occasionally, also. But, I will continue to use the service and app.
There is a good selection of audio books but I've rented two so far and they both have multiple places where they would skip. Sounds like a bad recording from a CD. Very annoying. Also have had the app just stop working. Had to reboot my android phone to get it going again.
Minor bug fixes.
