Sanpo is an interval-walking coach. Instead of holding one steady pace, you alternate: a few minutes brisk, then a few minutes easy, repeated for the length of the walk. Sanpo keeps the time and says every change out loud, so you can put the phone away and just walk.
HOW BRISK IS BRISK?
No straps and no numbers to chase. Brisk means slightly out of breath — you can still say a short sentence, but you could not sing. Easy means you can talk comfortably again. That is the whole technique.
WHAT YOU GET FOR FREE
• Spoken cues in your language — nine languages, recorded and bundled into the app. Nothing is downloaded and no system voice needs to be installed.
• Headphones optional — cues play through the phone speaker if you prefer.
• The whole walk at a glance — every brisk and easy stretch on one bar, and what comes next.
• A weekly goal you can see — four walking days in any seven keep your streak going, and Sanpo says when the next walk is due.
• Milestones and progress — walks, brisk time and streaks, with your history and totals in one place.
• Reminders you choose — a daily nudge at your time, a note when your streak needs a walk today, and a Sunday summary of your week.
WITH THE SCREEN OFF
A walk runs as an Android foreground service, so the timer keeps counting and the cues keep playing after the screen goes dark — phone in your pocket, nothing to hold open. The lock screen shows which interval you are in and how long is left.
If a call comes in, Sanpo gets out of the way: it stops talking for as long as you are on the phone, then tells you where you are in the walk once you hang up.
Phones differ. Some manufacturers stop background apps hard to save battery, so if a walk is ever cut short, Sanpo tells you afterwards how long it was frozen and how many cues it missed, and offers to fix the setting behind it.
SANPO PRO
An optional subscription, US$29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or US$4.99 a month:
• A four-week plan that steps up — start gently, then each week one thing gets a little longer. After that, a rotation of walks keeps you going without getting harder.
• A coach that reads how your walks felt — it suggests repeating a week or moving up, and you decide.
• More walks for every kind of day — gentle, short and brisk, longer brisk stretches, a long walk.
• Set your own fast and slow times — build the walk that suits you instead of taking the default.
• See how your weeks compare — your walks gathered into a trend you can actually read.
It renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in your Google Play subscription settings. A free trial becomes the yearly subscription when it ends, unless you cancel before then.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Sanpo has no account, no sign-in and no advertising, and no server holds your walks — your walks, step counts and streak stay on your phone. Since version 1.1 the app sends a few anonymous usage statistics (which screens and features are used, never your steps or your pace) so we know what to improve; switch them off any time in Settings → Privacy.
Sanpo is a fitness app. It is not medical advice and not a medical device. If you have a heart or blood pressure condition, joint problems, or have not been active for a while, ask your doctor before you start. Stop right away if you feel chest pain, dizziness or shortness of breath.

Brisk, easy, repeat. Spoken cues call every change of pace, in your language.
