About this app

It’s easy with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway. Use one setting for early morning lighting and music, another for late evenings and a third for cooking or working at home.

You can dim, turn off, turn on, change colours and switch from warm to cold light. Raise or lower blinds. Turn on your music – then turn it up, turn it down or pause it. And you can even control your air purifier to improve the air quality at home.

With the IKEA Home smart 1 app, you can connect to Amazon Alexa or Google Home and control it all with your voice.

What you’ll get with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway:
• The ability to control your lights and blinds from the app
• The ability to turn audio on and off, pause it and control volume
• Customisable settings, including changing the position of blinds, light colours and choosing warm or cold light
• Timers with morning and evening options
• The ability to turn your air purifier on and off, and set it to a fan speed that suits the needs of your home

Latest update: The app is getting worse. For example, the filter keeps blocking settings lke changing fan speed. I turn that off in the app and it goes right back to re-enabling blocks the next morning. They need to hire real developers. Otherwise... Smart home for dumb people. This system is easy but is restricted, dumb, and no where near as useful as SmartThings.

I can't turn lights on or off through the app, nor can I dim the lights. The slider immediately jumps back to 0. I can't create "moods". When trying to add or edit a custom mood, it crashes (closes). I tried deleting cache, reinstalling, reboots... It seems to work on iOS, not Android 10 (EMUI 10, Huawei P30). EDIT: Updates to gateway, devices and the app resolved the issues I reported previously. Therefore three stars.

When it works it works good but randomly it stop working and need to reset the main unit. Most of the time when they update the app the system stop working with the Amazon Alexa skill. Today my lights stop working with the Alexa. Check the app and have an update. Updated the app, the lights work with the app but non with the Alexa. Try to troubleshoot and end up removing the skill and try to add it again but not it does not link, it says unable to connect to amazon please try later but has being saying that for hours. Now none of my lights work with the Alexa so now they are worthless to me as I did not purchase them to use them with the phone, rather use the switch than pulling an app, looking for a light to be able to turn them on. I rather flip the switch and done. May be returning them all and I have all my house with this lights except the restrooms. This is a pain when it happens, does not happen often but when it does it is a pain and takes time. Some times you need to reset everything and then add all again and set them up. It takes hours to do so I may be done with this lights now. They were good but today just hit the spot that I change my opinion on this lights. If you want something that work with the phone with an app or you want to use their buttons and motion sensors then go for it they are good, for anything else like integrate them with Alexa, I don't think it will be reliable enough to get them. Your choice. I was happy with them but now I hate when they stop working as I am too use to talk instead of flipping switches but I will go back to switches I guess or with another brand. Good luck with them. Thanks
