About this app

The 511PA app provides near real-time highway and traffic information to drivers to help them safely plan their route. This includes information on roadwork, incidents, road closures, and weather alerts on roads across the state.

This app features a scrollable, zoomable map that displays:
• Traffic speeds
• Road Conditions
• Weather Restrictions
• Updated PennDOT snowplow locations (Track My Plow)
• Incidents and closures, such as collisions and other road hazards
• Cameras
• Roadwork
• Message Signs
• PennDOT Bridges
• PA Turnpike Information
• And many other info layers!

The app also features audio alerts that notify drivers of all the types of events listed above and more! Drivers can customize their alert experience and configure the app to their preferences, including being able to only receive alerts that apply to their chosen route.

Ratings and reviews

The user interface is horrible. It wasn't showing any saved routes and then suddenly I had multiple copies, which it wouldn't allow me to delete. I had to clear app storage to get rid of them. It seems like it's not communicating properly with whatever database the website is using. And, after all that, there doesn't seem to be any way to view a saved route on the map. I'm giving it 2 stars since it is slightly useful, but I'm not sure if I'll keep it.

I don't find it user friendly. When you zoom with 2 fingers it spins around. If you hit back it takes you out of the app and when you return, it's zooms out so far it's a world map. It seems to want to be a GPS, but I have enough of those. I want to see road conditions. There is a storm, and the app can't handle the traffic.

this used to allow me to see when my route had been plowed. As of December 19th, it says it was last plowed on Nov 5th. I don't know if that is when they did their last update but this is unless now. if I want weather conditions, road incidents, and directions, I can get them from google maps. I needed this app for the Track MY Plow feature. not impressed and will be deleting.
