This app definitely surprised me. Most bug identifier apps either require a payment to use the app, get the bug species entirely wrong, or both. This app is actually free to use; you are limited to 2 identifications per day, but with how accurate it is, I'd say that's reasonable. There is an option to pay for unlimited scans per day. Also when you scan the bug it not only tells you what it is but it tells you information about it, like where it lives or if it is harmful.

Misidentified the very first insect I attempted to identify. Using Gemini, Google's AI, I was able to successfully identify the insect. I've used other identification apps that have a feature where a community of bug lovers can submit their photos to a member supplied image database. And submit corrections to misidentifications as well. Unfortunately, no such feature is available with this app. My photo was incredibly clear and captured the entire insect.I will not be going past my 3-day trial.

Neat idea, but app did not register permission to access files & media to retrieve images from gallery. Basic functionality doesn't work. I granted permission while in the app, & it didn't register. I closed the app, toggled permission off and back on directly in settings, & it still didn't register. The only permission it didn't have was microphone permissions, & I toggled that on too. Still didn't work. Used a competitor's app asking for same permissions immediately afterward successfully.
