Listening to Jon and Craig discuss screenwriting (and things that are interesting to screenwriters) is almost like meditation for me these days. They are fun to listen to, but more importantly than that, they lack the usual pretense and facade that many podcast hosts seem to have. Even without ever intending to write a screenplay these guys are great to listen to as they breakdown the nitty gritty of story structure and the film industry.
Aspiring screenwriters should skip the books and listen to John and Craig. lt's not just funny interviews and caustic comments (from CM) that keep me entertained, but also their insightful, straightforward advice. They unravel the mystery of WGA contracts, share painful stories of their own failures (if you're a working writer - be prepared to get fires at some point) and remind us all that while it helps to love the craft of writing, it's the people you love (and who love you) who are most important. There are many who celebrate your success, but few who will hold your hand. I feel like John (and sometimes Craig) is doing that for all of us. I appreciate that.
These two are making me a better writer. I don't think...I know I cannot pay then any higher of a compliment. Thank you
Great app that make it easy for me to find the extra features like transcripts. Adding an umbrage-to-rainbows filter would be fun, but I'd only try it for novelty and still mostly listen raw and unfiltered.
The best podcast for script-writers and people who are interested in scriptwriting. It's just awesome to be doing something useful when you can't be at your screen, writing...
These guys are the best.
