I have been using the free version for a few years now. I started using it when I was doing wilderness search and rescue, one of our training rules was to pause training when lightning is within 10 miles. This is especially true on the water, so I have continued to use it when I go paddleboarding. The app is super easy to use, set it up to notify you just how you want it, and show strikes up to 1 hour ago. I do wish it had a longer history for those midnight storms.

Lightning Tracker (Pro) works as advertised for near real time notification of lighting. You can easily get alerts for strikes near you, and adjust the radius you consider 'near'. If you don't allow the app to track your location all the time, it will only alert on the location you last ran the app. However, allowing tracking will easily fix that or you can just open and shut the app if you are at all concerned about lighting.

Overall I really like this app. I work in construction and our safety policy for outdoor work requires a 30-minute safety stand-down after a lightning strike within 10 miles. The ability to set a time of day for notifications to begin and end is great, but being able to set days of the week would be very helpful. I only need the app on workdays. Not a big deal, just something I think about every time I use the app. Overall, a great app though.
