The first time I connected, it worked perfectly. The second and Following times I've connected, the app force closes on me. Oddly, I got it to work great when I turned on the VPN on my phone. I can't really make sense of it though, since this is supposed to connect via Bluetooth. When it works, it's really cool. However, for the most part, it's a pretty buggy app that rarely likes to connect without fiddling with it.

It started out great about 5 years ago, then after a couple of years, the app updated, and then it constantly crashed, I reached out to the developers by email and they actually tried to fix the issue and responded to my emails but the app still crashed. I just gave up and uninstalled the app... after about a year later, I decided to give the app a try, and it worked flawlessly other than it going into safe mode if you open the door. Then,just turn off the unit and start over. 4 stars for them.

Bought smoker for great reviews and assumed that quality would apply to Bluetooth and App. I HIGHLY recommend that you stay analogue!! DONT bother with digital bluetooth version Masterbuilt clearly had the interns, hire the cheapest guys in india they could find to write the app. Bluetooth rarely connects and when it does it does not stay connected for more than 30 minutes. Temp readings on App and smoker sometimes different. and the App in general is very limited in functionality. Fact is these guys build metal boxes that do a great job of cooking meat!...perhaps naive to expect they would do a decent job of something digital. Save the extra few bucks and dont bother with the digital.
