About this app

Local Stream turns your Android phone or tablet into a personal media server. Stream any video or audio file from your device's storage to smart TVs, VLC, Kodi, and any DLNA-compatible player on your home Wi-Fi — no internet required, no subscription, no cloud.

KEY FEATURES
• DLNA/UPnP compatible — works with Samsung TVs, LG TVs, Sony TVs, VLC, Kodi, and any DLNA client
• HTTP direct streaming — point any player to the device's local IP to stream instantly
• Large file support — optimised for files up to 20 GB+ with smooth, buffer-free playback
• Seek support — clients can jump to any position in the file (byte-range requests)
• Background server — runs as a foreground service with a status notification; keep streaming while using other apps
• No cloud, no account — everything stays on your home network
• QR code connect — scan to get the server address instantly on any device
• Wide format support — MKV, MP4, AVI, WebM, MP3, FLAC, and more

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open the app and tap Start Server.
2. On your TV or player, browse DLNA / Network / UPnP sources — "Local Stream" appears automatically.
3. Select a file and play. The server handles range requests so seeking works perfectly.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
Storage access — to read the media files you choose to stream.
Network — to run the local HTTP server and advertise it via DLNA discovery.
Foreground service — to keep the server alive while you use other apps.
Battery optimisation — to prevent Android from interrupting long streaming sessions.
