Great app for finding things you enjoy and meeting new people. It could be greatly improved as far as interface. For example, messages should be separate from the "notifications" section. Also, the notifications themselves are broken down by each group. This is fine, but you should be able to set notifications consistently across all groups, should you want to (i.e., not having to individually change every group's notification settings).
If you join 40 groups, that's 160 alerts you'll have to manage individually, with 160 separate sound notifications you'll have to turn off one at a time if you don't want to get bleeped every time literally anything happens in those groups. I thought the earth exploded or my phone got hacked when a conversation broke out. What... The... Heck...
This is a nice app to meet new people. The only problem that I find with is that, as an event organiser we need to be allowed to have the option of removing people from the event, for example, someone starts a new meet up account & cannot access their old account by not being able to remember their email address, the event organiser(s) must be able to remove that person from the event, so that other people who are on the waiting list can be added to the event.
Very impressed, started using it this afternoon and so far not disappointed it has a wide range of groups and events to choose from some even free. I think this is a very good group for people that feel lonely or struggle to get out there because of the activities that encourages people but also those that have spare time after work in a place of meeting new people sometimes away from social media. Apart from its wide variety of things to do it's helpful and informative too.
It's great. However I'd like to be able to ignore certain groups' activity even though I'm interested in what they do, but not the actual group itself. Example: I'm interested in Blockchain groups. There's a guy giving classes about Bitcoin every day at a local eatery. Needless to say he's cluttering what I see and I can't seem to mute his group or his dozens of upcoming meetups. FYI I'm not a member of his group.
Seeing as you removed members to be able to Suggest a Meetup I now need to make many people an organiser. Please can I have the functionality to make people an organiser directly from their profile page and from my phone rather than having to go on my pc to get the desktop site. The mobile 'desktop' site is not really the proper desktop site, but a mobile optimised version without the functionality to make people organisers/manage member roles. Thanks
We’re always making improvements so Meetup works better for you. Get the latest version for all of the available features.
