About this app

Kanji Study aims to be a helpful and easy-to-use tool for learning Japanese kanji. The app includes SRS, flashcards, multiple choice quizzes, writing challenges, kanji and word search, custom sets and much more. Kanji Study hopes to be your essential companion for mastering kanji.

The app is not entirely free; however, the free version has no ads and offers unlimited study of beginner kanji, radicals, hiragana and katakana. The dictionary and all info screens are also free and unrestricted. The one-time upgrade unlocks the remaining kanji levels and allows you to create your own custom sets. It also supports the continued development of this project.

Absolutely amazing, best learning app I've ever used. The fact that it's ad free and free for the "beginner" sections (which will probably take me atleast a few months to get through) is just awesome. Furthermore, I absolutely believe the paid stuff is going to be worth it for me when I get there, as it appears to be great value for what you are getting. I could not recommend this more!

Character explanations are tremendously thorough and place a really helpful focus on the components and their roles, which helps me to learn them faster. I do think the guided study is massively over-punitive with wrong answers, eliminating up to half of learning progress over 1 wrong answer. It's highly discouraging. I think it makes more sense for progress to simply not advance when the answer is wrong. Especially since correct answers rely on your own vocabulary knowledge.

this is truly an amazing app. Zero direction? start cramming and reviewing. Playing games or reading Japanese otherwise? Add in kanji and review it to practice it in sentences. Seeing the same kanji and words/phrases over and over but can't keep it all down? Add them in and it will help you review it in ways beyond rote memorization. it will find sentences with your words or phrases and introduce you to them.
