The KARVI app is a tool that helps parents and healthcare professionals assess the development of infants under 18 months of age.
-Neurodevelopmental Screening-
The KARVI scale is a screening test for healthy children in their first 18 months of life.
Screening tests determine the risk of infants developing a disease. They are tools to determine if a baby is at risk of developing a certain disease, but they are not considered diagnostic or confirmatory tests.
KARVI is a test for assessing the risk of probable neurodevelopmental delay and for evaluating the risk of later developing autism spectrum disorders in infants under 18 months of age.
Probable risk of developmental delay
Neurodevelopmental Delay
Risk of Hearing Problems
Risk of Visual Problems
Early indicators (risk alerts) of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Targeted Group
Healthy infants
Infants within their first 18 months of life
Excludes
Premature infants
Infants older than 18 months
Patients with a perinatal history of asphyxia or any type of neurodevelopmental or growth delay (weight or height).
*Patients with congenital or acquired diseases that cause developmental delays (genetic, neurological, motor, endocrinological, etc.)
-SAVE ME-
Designed and divided into five activities:
*SENSORY (Proprioceptive, Fine Motor)
*AUDITORY
*VISUAL
*EMOTIONAL (Socio-affective)
*MOTOR (Gross Motor)
*EVALUATION
Application Method
It is carried out through a questionnaire-type evaluation.
The application method for evaluating neurodevelopment, auditory, or visual problems involves assessing two achievements for each of the activities per month, which are then scored as Achieved or Not Achieved (resulting in a total of ten achievements per month, with five activities evaluated).
The application method for assessing the risk of developing autism spectrum disorders (ASD) later is used when the baby completes all or most of the monthly assessments (around 18 months of age). Within the monthly assessments, some items are categorized as alerts. When most of these alerts are present, a probable risk assessment is given (low, intermediate, or high).
-Growth Assessment-
The application also evaluates the baby's growth history monthly and graphs it on the Z-Score recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). It notifies us whether the baby's Z-Score falls within a normal range or not. Additionally, it shows the baby's nutritional status (underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese) using the weight/height Z-Score graph.
